In this session, Melissa Fisher (librarian) and David Beshk (science teacher) will discuss how they have collaborated over the last two years and present the units they have created and taught to students in first through third grade. During this session, the presenters will explain the advantages of working together, how they have made the partnership work, and will provide all the needed information to teach the unit at your own school. Cultivating Expertise in Multiple Literacies (K-12)
"Multiple literacies" is essentially the content area in which teacher librarians are expected to provide instructional leadership to their students and faculty. In this session participants will define “multiple literacies,” discuss effective strategies for integrating them into the curriculum, and share the best resources for cultivating ongoing expertise in these literacies. Participants will also explore methods for describing and promoting the teacher librarian as an instructional coach in multiple literacies.
