This session will explore ways in which teens sometimes gain emotional strength through YA fiction. Testimonial letters and emails from such readers offer evidence of lives changed through connecting with the right book at the right time. Participants will share titles that may offer hope for teens struggling through difficult situations, or dealing with past or ongoing trauma. How might we help match specific readers with that life-changing book? Not that such reading is a cure all, but that it can be an important step along the way. And, of course, can lead to a lifelong reading habit.
