Fake news isn't new, but social media's influence is. Teaching students to judge the veracity of what they read online is vital. We must show them how to fight against false information by knowing how to recognize fake news, understanding why it goes viral, and developing strategies to combat it. This session will provide resources, instructional strategies, and learning activities for librarians to help students become educated news consumers and think critically about what they read. Participants will gain a wealth of resources for building a news literacy toolkit.
